Top 7 Tips Why Article Submission Increases Internet Traffic, Subject Matter Expertise & Creativity

Author: Leanne Hoagland-Smith

Have you ever been asked the following question: Why do you write all those articles for article submission to websites? A close friend and colleague just asked me that same question only her words were: What is the value to you to write articles for the purpose of submitting them to websites? After incorporating this strategy as one of my W.H.Y. S.M.A.R.T. goals, I was quickly able to answer her question.

  1. The most obvious benefit is the increase of measurable Internet traffic to my website. The value of this is that I am receiving free marketing exposure across the web from a variety of search engines. I can determine this through Link Popularity, monitoring my own web statistics and doing searches on my name along with the word articles.

  2. I am becoming a subject matter expert (SME) on process improvement through a variety of related topics. Writing allows me to gain greater clarity and a deeper understanding of my field of human performance and how that relates to improving the performance of both organizations and individuals. For example, this past week I learned of something called Qualifications Based Selection (QBE) after attending a trade show sponsored by ACEC Indiana a statewide association for engineers.

Having never heard of OBE, I did a Google search and discovered over 27 million hits. Even though QBE was initially designed to select engineers, architects and land surveyors through the federal Brooks Act (Public Law 92-582), this methodology works with providers of professional services especially executive coaching, strategic planning and process improvement. By understanding QBE, I can build a better relationship with my potential clients since my practice focuses on working with engineering firms to help them build their businesses.

  3. Writing has expanded my creativity. I see tens if not hundreds of potential articles each month. As in the earlier example, I never would have thought to write about QBE. Yet, as I read more about this methodology I saw the connection between QBE and the professional services that I provide.

  4. Article submission gives me greater value as a provider of executive coaching and process improvement services. From my articles, I can better connect with my potential clients needs. As in the earlier example, we are now speaking the same language.

  5. Submitting articles keeps me ahead of many of those within my field. I am staying current because I am actively researching and looking to write new articles. My mind is always thinking because I have top of mind awareness.

  6. This strategy is demonstrating to the world the skill sets that I bring to any organizations without first having to purchase them. Since the foundation of good writing is a good thinking ability, I am able to submit quality articles on a consistent basis that illustrate how to improve both organizations and individuals performance.

  7. Writing brings me a lot of personal joy and truly helps me to love life with joy and abundance. To know that others look forward to your articles and truly appreciate your creative writing efforts is a reward unto itself.

After writing over 160 articles which is very modest compared to many who have written hundreds if not thousands, I have come to appreciate these 7 reasons or tips that article submission brings to my business as well as to my personal life. Just think, this article happened because of a question from a friend. How many questions have you answered that can as easily be turned into an article?
